第十期生态实验室“学术前沿报告”

      简    介:牛书丽研究员长期从事全球变化生态学研究,主要运用全球变化控制实验研究生态系统结构和功能,尤其是生态系统碳、氮、水循环及其耦合对气候变化和人类干扰的响应和适应,同时利用数据挖掘对陆地生态系统联网观测和联网实验数据进行整合分析,揭示陆地生态系统关键地表过程的大尺度格局及其环境调控因子和机制。先后在Ecology, Global Change Biology, New Phytologist, Ecosystems, Journal of Experimental Botany等国际主流刊物发表SCI论文四十余篇,任Nature 旗下的Scientific Report,Functional Ecology, Journal of Plant Ecology刊物的编委,以及Ecosphere的专刊编委。

       报告内容:Global warming has fundamentally changed ecosystem carbon cycling, with the consequent negative or positive feedback. However our understanding on the underlying mechanisms of climate - carbon cycle feedback is still limited. We conducted a few manipulative warming experiments in temperate steppe and tallgrass prairie to examine how resources availability (water and nitrogen) and biotic factor (plant functional types) regulate ecosystem carbon cycle in response and feedback to climate warming. Meanwhile, we synthesized global eddy covariance fluxes datasets to reveal regional and global patterns of ecosystem carbon cycle in response and acclimate to temperature changes. We found (1) water availability plays a dominant role in regulating ecosystem C fluxes and their responses to climatic change in the temperate steppe of northern China; (2) warming-increased plant C accumulation in tallgrass prairie was primarily due to the increases of plant nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) rather than the increases of N availability; (3) warming impacts on ecosystem C fluxes were dependent on C4 biomass proportion in the community of tallgrass prairie; (4) globally, the optimum temperature of NEE could acclimate and adapt to temperature changes. These empirical evidences revealed complex regulatory mechanisms underlying ecosystem feedback to climate warming, which are critical for better understanding global change impacts on terrestrial ecosystem carbon cycle.
