欧洲地球科学联合会（European Geosciences Union）大会是地球科学领域最具影响力的国际会议之一。4月27日至5月2日，2014年EGU大会在奥地利维也纳举行，来自106个国家和地区的12437位科研人员参加了此次大会。会上，“第三极环境”（TPE）国际计划再次组织了主题为“The Third Pole Environment - Observation and modelling of hydrometeorological processes in high elevation areas”的TPE专题分会。此次分会由我所马耀明研究员、张凡研究员、荷兰屯特大学（University of Twente）Bob Su教授、意大利国家科学院大气科学与气候研究所Antonello Provenzale教授、法国冰川与地球物理实验室Hans-Werner Jacobi以及全球能量和水循环计划（GEWEX）办公室负责人Peter van Oevelen担任联合召集人。

       围绕第三极等高海拔地区水文气象过程这一研究主题，在本次TPE分会现场，来自荷兰、中国、意大利、德国等国知名研究机构的6位学者作了口头报告。首先，Delft University of Technology的Massimo Menenti教授介绍了关于Hydro-meteorological processes on the Qinghai – Tibet Plateau observed from space的研究进展，之后，我所马耀明研究员、意大利National Research Council-Water Research Institute的Gianni Tartari博士、荷兰University of Twente的Bob Su教授、德国Technische Universität Berlin的Julia Curio博士、中国科技大学的Lei Zhong博士分别作了题为“Study on the change of the Tibetan Plateau climate system and the mechanism of its impact on eastern Asia”、“Tracing the impact of climate change since 1960s on the south slope of Mt Everest (central southern Himalaya) on glaciers, lakes and river discharge”、“A 10-year (2001–2010) land surface energy balance product for climate and ecohydrological studies for mainland China”、“A twelve-year high-resolution climatology of atmospheric water transport on the Tibetan Plateau”、“Assessment of soil water deficit for the middle reaches of Yarlung-Zangbo River from optical and passive microwave images”的报告。此外，16位学者还以展板的形式与参会者分享了他们的研究成果。此次EGU大会TPE水文气象专题分会为从事第三极地区水文气象研究的科研人员提供了一个成果展示和学术交流的理想平台。
